Colour Throwdown 453 (X2) & Make It Monday #292

I was so inspired when I saw the inspiration photo for Colour Throwdown 453:

that I made two cards!
For the first one, I tried to recreate the photo, using my jar from Lawn Fawn's Summertime Charm
and some fruit sets from Papertrey Ink.

I started by stamping my jar in Altenew Morning Frost and then using a mask
around the jar and applying Altenew Buttercream with my blending tool.
I stamped the raspberries using Papertrey Ink's Summer Berries set and
Altenew Crimson & Velvet and PTI Green Parakeet & New Leaf.
I made a mask for the berries and stamped the lemon slice using PTI's Still Life: Summer.
Then, I made a mask for the lemon slice and stamped it again, as well
as on it's coordinating diecut.

For my sentiment, I diecut my "summer" diecut (from Studio Calico)
and blended Green Parakeet and Buttercream onto it.
I stamped the "blessings" using my Easter Blessings set from PTI.

And for my next card, I used
Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #292: Colour Blocking Three Ways:

I stamped my Brushed Off along the side of my card in Buttercream,
Mango Smoothie and Green Parakeet inks.
I added the fruit, stamped onto their coordinating diecuts.

I stamped the sentiment using SSS's Big Scripty Sentiments.

I decided to use my Altenew Build-a-Flower: Camellia stamp set.

I started by stamping my flower in Altenew Blush, Coral Berries & Ruby Red inks
three times -- twice on my card front and once on a diecut.
Then, using a mask, I stamped the leaves in Frayed Leaf, Olive and Moss.

I adhered my diecut using dimensional adhesive and
stamped my sentiment (from PTI's Spring Woods) in Jet Black ink.

Papertrey Ink July Blog Hop

I have a card to share for today's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.

This month's challenge was to use this photo as inspiration:

Isn't it lovely?
Here's my card:

I started by stamping my berries and leaves (from PTI's Summer Berries) with some masking
in Altenew inks: Morning Frost, Evening Grey, Arctic and Caribbean Blue.
Then, I diecut my stamped panel using my Shaker Shapes: Square die.
I also diecut the same shape from a coaster, stacked them together,
and adhered them back with my card.

I stamped the sentiment (from Choose Joy) and added a stamped/diecut berry
with some dimensional adhesive.

Freshly Made Sketches #297

Today, I have a card to share for

My co-worker, Jazmyn, asked me to make a card for
her friend's daughter's first birthday
and requested pineapples.

I blended ink onto my background using a mask I made from post-it
notes, three shades of ink and my ink blending tool.
I framed it with my PTI Shaker Shapes: Square die
and stamped it using a sentiment from my PTI Ballerina stamp set.

I stamped my pineapple from my Reverse Confetti pineapple set
in versamark and heat embossed it in gold onto its coordinating diecut.
I diecut my "1" using my PTI dies.

Make It Monday #291

Today, I have a card to share for this week's
Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Emboss Resist Shadow Sentiments.

I've been invited to the wedding shower for the daughter of a friend of mine
next weekend, so I decided to make a card for it.
I have some very cute wrapping paper with bicycles on it,
so I made a coordinating card using Pedal Pusher.

I made a mistake in my technique though...
Instead of stamping my sentiment (from PTI's Wet Paint III) in a black ink
and then a second time in versamark, like Ashley suggested,
I used versafine black ink.
But I had a hard time getting my stamp completely clean after that,
and, as a result, my shadow is a little grey.

I stamped the wheels in versafine onyx black and heat embossed them in clear.

Five for Friday

1. Austin left for a missions trip with twenty-five other youth and leaders
from our church on Wednesday.
After a layover in Montreal, they arrived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti yesterday.
I'm very excited for this opportunity for him!

You can follow their trip here, if you'd like.

2. After church on Sunday, Austin and I drove to Winnipeg and spent the afternoon together,
just the two of us.
We did a little shopping and went to see Baby Driver at the theatre.
Unfortunately, I realized later that we hadn't taken any photos of our day out. :(

3. I got new glasses.

Sage and my friend, Val, helped me pick them out.
And Sage took this photo of me. :)

4. I shared a couple of weeks ago how I sold the front display at Two30Nine
and redesigned it to fit into my client's kitchen (click here to see photos).

Well, I wanted to share a peek of the new front display that I designed to take its place.

It combines so many of my favourite things:
white shaker cabinets, herringbone tile, glass cabinets, floating shelves,
Fantasy Brown granite countertops and an island in one of our new Coastal colours.
Intrigued?
You can see more of it here.

5. I have another card for this week's CTS:

and for the current Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge -- Surf's Up:

I decided to make a card using my MFT butterfly set -- in different shades of blue.

I stamped my butterfly onto its coordinating diecut
and layered it over a piece of cardstock that I'd smooshed with PTI Hawaiian Shores ink.

I stamped my sentiment (from PTI's KIS: Sympathy)
on a strip of navy cardstock and heat embossed it in white.

(from MFT's Beautiful Butterflies set.)
I blended some Altenew Volcano ink onto my aqua mist background panel
and onto the banner I diecut using MFT dies.

Create Along with Us: July 2017

Today, I have a couple of cards to share that I made for this month's

Having just purchased the Humming Along set last month,
I was inspired by Dawn's card to use it:

I decided to use the same flowers as Dawn did and made this card:

I stamped the hummingbird and flowers from Humming Along onto their coordinating diecuts
and layered them over a piece of PTI Linen cardstock that I diecut using my
Mama Elephant Femme Frames die.

I stamped the sentiment using SSS Big Scripty Sentiments.

And, then, I decided to make a second card, using the petunias from the set.

I just changed up the colours slightly.

This time, my sentiment was from PTI's Tropics.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge -- Surf's Up

The LEAD of the Surf's Up Challenge will be invited as a
Guest Designer in a future challenge!
Please visit the Curtain Call Challenge Blog for all the challenge info and deadline.

I was also inspired by this week's Muse Card Club Challenge
to included a camouflaged sentiment diecut on my card:

Here's my card:

I started by smooshing some PTI Tropical Teal and Hawaiian Shores ink
onto my watercolour  paper background.
Once dry, I diecut the thanks from it, careful to keep all of the pieces from the diecut.

I diecut two more "thanks" (using a MFT die) from PTI coasters and
layered them together, with the original diecut on top.

Make sure you visit each of the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge
 designers' blogs for more inspiration!
