Seven treat bags

We had our parent-teacher conferences yesterday morning for my two youngest children,
which worked out to be perfect timing for this week's Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink: Decorated Kraft Bags.

I made some Butter Crunch for the teachers and thought that using a kraft bag for them would be new way to wrap them up. I used some regular lunch bags for my kraft bags, having wrapped the butter crunch in a plastic bag on the inside first.

For each tag, I used some PTI rustic white card stock and Tag Sale #7, and a sentiment from Nuts for You.
I stamped on the bag on each one (heat embossing with white embossing powder for the first six) and then coordinated the stamping on the bag with the stamping on each tag.

For the first two, I paper-pieced the sweet squirrel from nuts for you.

I stamped the background with BB:Chevron Stripes.
I added the little scarf from Simon Says Stamps' Stylish Simon stamp set.

Here, I did the same thing, but changed the background stamp to BB:Woodgrain.

Next I did the same thing, but with the Fox from Hello, Foxy.

And for the music teachers, I used a Clearly Besotted background stamp.
For the first bag, I added a bird from a previous anniversary set (I think!) I just have the one stamp -- I bought it off of someone on the forum.

And here I added the birds from Christmas Friends.

And lastly, I changed things up a little, by stamping on my bag with coloured ink.

I used the Mighty Oak stamp set and added a bird from Christmas Friends.

Inspired Blueprints #112

Today, I am sharing a layout that I made using Inspired Blueprints Sketch #112:

And here's my layout:

For my layout, I used some goodies that came in a Close To My Heart kit that I purchased earlier this fall.
Pretty much all of the supplies came in this kit..... except for the buttons, twine & "Take Note" stamp (that's from PTI's On The Farm).

I stamped the woodgrain stamp repeatedly onto the beige card stock in Summer Sunrise.
Then I stamped my title.
I loved these sentiment stamps .... this was why I purchased the kit. ;)

The journaling pulls out from behind the photo at the top... I typed it out on my typewriter.

Click on over to the  Inspired Blueprints Blog to see what the rest of the DT made with the sketch!

And before I go, I just wanted to highlight this Black Friday deal at Reverse Confetti:

No peeking

My friend, Tracey McNeely is hosting a wonderful series on her blog: 25 Days of Christmas Tags.
I was very excited when she asked me to join in on the fun!

I decided to make a tag using the technique that Maile Belles shared on her blog recently,
where she layered her tag over a second tag cut from patterned paper.

I stamped and paper-pieced the present and cat from Simon Says Stamp Happy Meowday.
The patterned paper is Pink Paislee & the tag is PTI's Tag Sale #5.
The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's No Peeking set.
The twine is Lawn Fawn.

Be sure to hop on over to Tracey's blog to see the tag that she made today.

Christmas party invitations

Since my pumpkin party for my Sunday School class was a success,
I thought I'd have another party next month for Christmas.

I decided to make my invitations using the Festive Friday Final Challenge of 2013, which let us choose a previous challenge from this past year. I chose this one:

I made the cards very similar, but switched the colours up slightly for boys/girls.
Here's the boys' card:

I used my new Mama Elephant dies that I got in the mail yesterday -- aren't they fabulous?
I stamped the sentiment and gingerbread man from PTI's Scenti-mentals set.
Then, I masked him off and stamped the evergreen boughs from Wplus9's Merry & Bright
and added some berries from Wplus9's Fresh Cut Florals.

And here's the girls' version:

Inspired at school

A few weeks ago, I was subbing at my daughter's school, in a grade 3/4 classroom.
I had a bit of time to go to the library to look for some books to read to the class and I found this one:

It was really cute, with wonderful illustrations.
After I was done reading it to the class, I couldn't help but look at it again.
This was after I had ordered my City Scene stamp set from PTI,
but I hadn't received it in the mail yet.
I loved how the buildings were stamped tone on tone in the background on the cover and
thought that this would be fun to replicate in a card.

So, when my City Scene stamp set arrived, I gave it a try...

I stamped the buildings on Harvest Gold cardstock in Harvest Gold ink.
The I stamped the second layer with Summer Sunrise.
For the "character" on the front, I decided to stamp & paper-piece Simon from
Simon Says Stamps' Stylish Simon stamp set.
I gave him a pink hoodie, as I was making it for one of my Sunday School students, and she likes pink.
The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Type It.

PTI November Blog Hop

It's the 25th, which means it's time for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.

This month's challenge is Paper House.

We were challenged to make a house out of paper.
Even though Nichole supplied us with a template to make our houses,
I thought an easier route would be to use my Silhouette to cut mine out.

Sage wanted to get in on the fun of this challenge, so together, we made three houses:
one together and then one each on our own.
We decided to go with a "gingerbread house" theme and include the little gingerbread man stamp from Scenti-mentals for each one.

Here's the first one we made, using PTI card stock (dark chocolate, classic kraft and pure poppy.)
The corner posts are made with some October Afternoon patterned paper.

Sage thought it would be fun to add white embossing powder to the roof, so she colours in places with a versa mark pen and then we heat embossed it.

For my house, I started with some aqua mist card stock that I stamped all over with the "sugar & spice" sentiment from Scenti-mentals.
For my windows and doors, I used Vintage Cream card stock that I stamped with my BB:Woodgrain set.
For my roof and corner posts, I used some Basic Grey patterned paper that I glittered.
To do this, I used some Sizzix adhesive sheets to my patterned paper before cutting it with my Silhouette. Then I removed the backing and covered it with glitter. Super easy....
I included the little gingerbread man at the front door, but this time, I gave him a glittered paper heart.

And on the back, I added a glittered Christmas tree (using some LLH:Holiday dies).

And here's the house that Sage made on her own.

She also used a patterned paper roof (My Mind's Eye) and instead of the corner posts, she added some Lily Bee patterned paper trees (using the same die that I did.)

And where's her gingerbread man?

There he is!

Merry & Bright

Today, I have a card to share that I made for the most recent

I decided to use some new Reverse Confetti goodies to make my card:

I started with some vintage cream cardstock.
Over this, I layered some new Fancy Pants patterned paper.
I die cut a Tag Me tag and I stamped my sentiments.
I added some die cut greenery, buttons and twine.

E&L's colour challenge: Day 6

Hi there!
For the final day of the colour challenge I'm doing with Erin,
she chose this colour combo and the Fanciful Feathers stamp set from Wplus9.

And here's the card that I made:

I stamped a couple of feathers in soft stone on my background.
I stamped my feathers onto their coordinating die cuts and added a trio of buttons.
The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say stamp set.

Please, head over to Erin's blog to check out her take on the challenge!

E&L's Colour Challenge: Day 5

Hi there!
Welcome to Day 5 of the colour challenge I'm doing with Erin!
For today, she chose this colour combo and the Lovely Layers stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

Now, I have to admit that I strayed slightly from the colour combo given for this one.
I found some fun MME patterned paper in my stash and came up with this card:

I stamped the Lovely Leaves accents on my Lovely Leaves die cuts, which I layered over some LL:squares die cuts.
The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti's Lots to Say stamp set.

Please, head over to Erin's blog to check out her take on the challenge!

CTS#55 & E&L's Colour Challenge: Day 4

Today, I'm combining a couple of challenges with my card.
First of all, I used the newest sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch --  Sketch #55 by Karolyn Loncon:

And, I used the following colour scheme for the colour challenge I'm doing with Erin.
I picked this this colour combo and one of my very favourite stamp set: Fresh Cut Florals from Wplus9.

Here's my card:

I stamped some Fresh Cut Floral stamps on the coordinating dies and adhered some to the card and others to the frame to create some dimension. The sentiment is also from Fresh Cut Florals.
Visit CAS(E) this Sketch to see the rest of the DT's takes on the sketch and to play along, if you'd like. You have until Thursday, December 5th to link up your card.

Oh, and make sure you hop on over to Erin's blog, too, to check out her take on the challenge.
